Embodied Recovery Community is an online space for women+* who are recovering from alcohol and substance misuse, and participating in any destructive behaviors.

Our Commitments

We DO NOT judge these behaviors because we understand that for a time they actually helped us survive.

We DO acknowledge that these behaviors are now more harmful than helpful.

We DO commit to stopping these behaviors and choose, one day at a time, to consciously create new pathways of possibility for who we want to be and how we want to live.

*“Rachel Ricketts' definition of Women+ “Refers to women [cis or trans], as well as anyone else who may hold less assigned gender power. The ‘+’ is derived from Bear Herbert to include all those who self-identify as being oppressed by misogyny similar to those who identify as women, including femme, femme-passing, gender non-conforming, nonbinary, agender, genderqueer, intersex folx, and those who live outside of identities that terms or language can describe now or in the future.”

Our Ethos:

Recovery is not a linear path

You are welcome wherever you are on yours.

Recovery requires space

Space to celebrate, space to question, space to be messy and mess up, space to be loved and held exactly as you are.

Recovery requires self-responsibility

Nobody can do the work for you, but we can support you while you do it and cheer you on every step of the way.

Recovery requires community care

We cannot recover alone. We’re about ditching the ‘lone wolf’ model in favor of finding our pack. Being part of a pack means we commit to both practices of receiving what we need and giving what we can so that everyone can thrive.

Recovery spaces should be trauma-informed

We hold space with informed-care and are committed to continually learning, unlearning, and welcoming feedback.

Hi! I’m Halie Devlin

I’m the founder of Embodied Recovery Community, a somatic educator and facilitator, a sober coach, a ceremonialist, a mother, and a healing justice advocate.

As a woman in recovery myself for 8+ years, I do this work because I know that recovery gets to be about more than just putting down the drink/drug/dependency (insert your ‘thing’ here). Recovery gets to be a deeply spiritual and embodied experience, if you want it to be. And it’s a path that no one should have to walk alone.

My mission is to empower you with practices and support to come to know and fully inhabit your body as a safe and sacred space so that you can recover your sense of Self-trust, your authenticity, your sovereignty, your intuition, and your vibrancy.

My approach to teaching merges science with spirit in a way that is grounded, accessible, and trauma-informed.

What goes on here:

Pillar One: Community

Live Virtual Ceremony Each Month +

Gather with fellow folks in recovery around the full moon or seasonal transitions to connect, share, and witness one another on this journey. Have you ever felt like an experience didn’t quite feel real until you shared it with someone else? That is because witnessing is essential for embodiment. Each month you will be welcomed to join in this intentional, safe and sacred space of community. Ceremonies will be themed around a specific recovery principle each month.

Tuesday Morning Recovery Yoga +

These are also live virtual meetings. Recovery yoga is a practice that is accessible for people of all levels of experience. Themed around the principles of recovery, each class will incorporate gentle movement, guided meditation, and breath practices to help you connect to yourself as well as space to share and connect in community.

Sunday Morning Meeting: Rituals of Recovery +

Every Sunday at 8am PST this virtual meeting inculdes embodiment practice and space to cultivate ritual as a person in recovery, and time to connect and share.

Private Online Community Space via Mighty Networks: +

It’s like a facebook group, but better! Rather than having to sift through a messy newsfeed to find what you’re looking for, or worry about only seeing a small % of the group’s content, all of our community’s day-to-day communication is organized and customized for your ease. Here we can connect with one another for sharing, support, and accountability. Additionally you will find journal prompts, future courses and workshops, and recorded practices here.

 PILLAR TWO: embodiment Practice

Halie_Exports-09.png

Embodiment practice is at the center of all that we do in this community. Every gathering includes practices that support you in coming to understand and abide by the language and deep wisdom of your body. We also have an ever-growing library of pre-recorded embodiment practices that you can utilize whenever you want!

We live in a world that places a lot of emphasis on ‘knowing’ - but it is one thing to ‘know’ what to do, and quite another thing to actually do it, to actually live it. Our practices are intended to support you in living an embodied life - in other words, a life in which your thoughts, feelings and actions are aligned, a life in which all that you experience is brought to the table as sacred.

Pillar three: Self Reflection

Halie_Exports-11.png

Journal Prompts to help you reflect and gain embodied perspective in service to your healing.

Prompts will be in accordance with each month’s theme.

pillar four: Service

Service in Action: My experience of recovery shifted when I realized that I wasn’t healing just to heal...I was ultimately healing so that I could be a better person to other people. Each and every one of us is meant to be available to this Life. As interdependent beings we absolutely need each other. We are wired to dance freely between giving and receiving. Once we have reached a place in our healing where we have a capacity to give it is our responsibility as citizens of this world to do so. If we don’t, then we clamp down on the channel we have worked so hard to clear, our newfound vitality atrophies and we’re back to where we started.

A recovery mentor once told me: “If you want to build self-esteem then do esteemable acts.” It feels GOOD to do good things in the world! Service is integral to any recovery path. Some will even argue it’s the whole point. With the intention of mutual aid we will co-create service offerings together to create a powerful ripple effect of love and devotion in and for this world.

Q: What happens when I sign up for a membership? +

A: This is a recurring membership. You will create a login and be guided through the process to join our online community right away.

Q: What kind of recovery are you talking about? +

A: Identification with recovery is meant to be broad and roomy. Generally folks in this group are recovering from participating in destructive behaviors. We’ve come to adopt the working definition of recovery from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration: “A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.” Our collective includes, but is not limited to people recovering from substance and alcohol abuse, codependency, food addiction, and love addiction.

Q: Will this community replace 12-step fellowships and therapeutic environments? +

A: No. This collective is intended to be supplementary, a way to amplify the benefits of the labor you are already doing whether that is with a therapist, a 12-step fellowship, a rehabilitation program, etc.

Q: What time are live sessions & what happens if I can’t make it? +

A: The dates will vary month to month but you will always be given a couple weeks notice of the calendar of events. Due to the intimate nature of our gatherings we don't post recordings.

Q: What is your cancellation policy? +

A: You can cancel at any time.

Q: What is your refund policy? +

A: We do not offer refunds, but you can cancel at any time.
